Tremosine is known by archaeologists for the discovery of a bilingual inscription written in Latin and Gallic, to witness the presence of the Cenomani in pre-Roman times.
In the 13th century Tremosine already had Podestà and a Captain, proof of its political standing. Through the centuries Tremosine stood under the alternate dominion of Trentino and Brescia, later it was annexed to Austria and then to Italy.
